Great things to see and do in Santa Cruz

Have out-of-town guests heading to your wedding or event? Here’s a quick list of popular attractions and things to do, delicious dining options, and unique shopping experiences to pass along. Santa Cruz’s nearest airport is San Jose Mineta International (30 miles). San Francisco International is 60 miles north and Oakland International is 65 miles.

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk: Since 1907, Santa Cruz beachgoers have enjoyed the thrills of this amusement park. The Giant Dipper, built in 1924, is actually a National Historic Landmark.

Santa Cruz Surfing Museum: It’s been said that surfing came to the California coast when three Hawaiian princes paddled out from Santa Cruz. Hang ten at this museum dedicated to over 100 years of surfing history.

Big Basin Redwood Park: Established in 1902, this is California’s oldest state park and just 20 short minutes from Santa Cruz. Experience the majesty of trees as tall as the Statue of Liberty.

Whale watching: Santa Cruz is a migration point for grays, blues, and humpbacks. Dolphins, sea otters, and seals make the area their year-round home.

Shadowbrook: Enjoy a leisurely stroll or bird’s eye view from the incline trolley through lush gardens before experiencing this fine dining establishment. There’s nothing like it!

Crow’s Nest: This is one of the area’s most beloved restaurants. For over 50 years, patrons have enjoyed breathtaking waterfront views, award-winning cuisine, and live entertainment.

Stagnaro Brothers: At the end of the wharf’s pier, you’ll find this signature restaurant modeled after an ocean liner. Grab a cocktail at the nautical bar or savor a brunch Bloody Mary.
